PET IN NEED: GERTIE
Posted On 07/16/2012 by Laura Benn
Gertie is a wonderful, six-year-old beagle who will win you over with her loving. She adores snuggles and only barks on the rarest of occasions. She loves to dance in circles whenever it is time to go out for a walk and she is sneakily a little bit of an escape artist. Despite only having three legs she will definitely keep you on your toes! Keep reading to learn more about this girl’s story!
STORY: Gertie was found with a compound fracture and when the owner was located, she was surrendered to the shelter. Sadly one of her back legs had to be amputated, but this has not slowed her down at all!
FAVE SNACK: Gertie is a picky eater and does not like much human food or many doggy treats. However, she loves these lamb tripe chewy dog treats! She also likes to play with her food. She will take a single kibble in her mouth and run to a carpet or couch with it and then toss it in the air and catch it and toss it up again and again before eating it. Sometimes she won’t even eat it, just play with it for awhile and then forget about it. What manners!
FAVE GAME: Gertie loves to take her stuffed toys from one place to another. She will take them, one at a time, until they are all gathered in the new spot where she wants them. It’s as though she likes organized play!
BIGGEST FEAR: Gertie is scared of thunderstorms. This is the only time she displays anxiety. She will pace and tremble the whole time there is a storm and will want to be close to her family for comfort.
FUNNIEST QUIRK: Gertie thinks she is a lap dog! If she sees an available lap she will jump right onto it for some loving.
CATCH PHRASE: Catch me if you can!
