Take My Picture

Have you ever run into that awkward situation where it seems your arms are flailing madly as you try to juggle your camera, a squeaky toy and a treat while trying to take a picture of your pet in that split second that they are actually looking at the camera? If not, you’re likely a contortionist or benefit from that third arm the rest of us dream about.
Thankfully, for those of us that can’t use our foot as an extra hand, there is now an application out on the market that does the work of capturing you pet’s attention so you can concentrate on capturing that perfect picture.
The application is called Pet Pic and is produced by Punk Opera. Inspired by the creator’s own dog, this application makes sounds to attract you pet’s attention, leaving you free to take the time you need to frame you picture just right. The application offers three sounds; dog, cat and squeaky toy. According to Punk Opera’s website, the application further allows you to chose between three dog and three cat sounds to see which one your pet reacts to best.
The application is available through iTunes and the App Store for $ 0.99 and requires iOS 4.2 or later as well as having an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with a camera. Then with the touch of a button you can share your new images on Facebook or through email!
All in all, a clever little app! However, we’re curious to see how your pet reacts to Pet Pic, so the first 10 readers to leave a comment on this post will receive a free promo code for this application! If you like it and get some good photos, be sure to find Pet Pic on Facebook and leave a five-star-rating if you really love it! (Oh, and this app is a great way to snap some photos to enter into our Thursday Furball Pet of the Week contest…hint! hint!)

Eye Candy

Good things come in three, like this stunning trio of pet gifts from Paul Smith. An elegant ceramic food dish offers a modern and playful aesthetic with its pearl white glassy contour and band of colourful stripes running along the bottom. Of course, such a breathtaking dish needs a beautifully crafted multi-striped collar to match, complete with a brushed metal dog tag engraved with Paul Smith’s signature logo. Adding a leash to the pair is like placing a divinely juicy cherry on top of what is already a wickedly decadent sundae.  Beauty, art and luxury.

Pretty Pooch Posters

It’s not easy being the underdog, but this animated poster created by upstate New York native Megan OConnell certainly reminds underdogs everywhere about the importance of keeping faith and following your gut (or in this case, your nose) to a well deserved triumph.

Gushing with personality, all of Megan’s designs are bright, bubbly and whimsical — three of our favourite things! If absolutely forced to say something critical out theses pieces it would be the fact that all of the posters are so gosh darn darling you simply want to buy them all and plaster all over your walls! Of course, we’re sure that’s the point. Definitely click ‘continue’ on this post to soak up more delightful images!

So if you were forced to choose only one, which would it be? We’re sticking with the underdog.

Pawsh Pet of the Month Prizes!

Source Unknown
As many of you know, we like to host a friendly “Pet of the Month” contest. In the beginning we featured one lovable pet a month on our website with a little write up about their likes and dislikes, and who they were. However, so many irresistibly cute faces started popping up in our inbox and giving us the infamous puppy eyes that we decided to expand the contest! Here’s how it works now.

Each week we announce a pet who has been selected as the ‘Thursday Furball.’ Then at the end of the month we ask you, our lovely readers, to vote for the pet you’d most like to see crowned with the honourable title of “Pet of the Month.” The winner then receives a Pawsh prize. Fun, yes? So be sure to email us your pet photos to [email protected] to enter for your chance to win!

For this month, April, we’ve decided to unveil the prize at the beginning of the month instead of the end and we couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce you to the sublime collar and leash combos of Peachy Keen Pets. That’s right, April’s “Pet of the Month” will walk away with a brand new collar and leash of their choice! How utterly fabulous is that?

Peachy Keen Pets (which, by the way, is a great name for a pet business!) was founded in 2009 by Niki Geroni and her two pug assistants, Miso and Hummus (again, terrific names!) Based in Toronto, Ontario, Geroni uses rare vintage cotton fabrics with the quirkiest prints possible to create her lovely leashes and cute collars. The fabric is then sewn over durable webbing and each item is finished with industrial welded hardware — in other words, tough stuff!

Miso and Hummus and some of their bigger dog chums, lend a paw as the official product testers to ensure that each item has been built to last! Geroni completes all of the sewing by hand while her sidekicks have the very important task of snoring noisily at her feet or making her laugh with pronounced ‘eye-googling.’

“I am truly lucky to have found a job that I really love to do,” says Geroni happily. “I get to be with my dogs all the time and get to outfit amazing dogs from all over the world with one-of-a-kind products.”

Peachy Keen Pets products are currently stocked in 26 locations across North America, with new stores in NYC and San Diego! PAWSH is very excited to be working with such a wonderful heartfelt company. So don’t waste another second! Grab your cameras, snap some photos of your pets and send them in to us! You could be awarded a beautiful collar and leash at the end of the month! And go!
