Thank you for your patience over the past few days. I became completely consumed with an unexpected volunteer project to help a shelter and was entirely too drained to post here. I missed you all greatly and am happy to be back.
Today’s giveaway, our final holiday 2012 giveaway, is the ‘piece de resistance’ valued at $300! It is a custom 11 X 14″ pet painting by Kari of Pet Portraits. These pieces are so intricate and unique that I thought it best if Kari explain here style and approach…
How would you describe your artistic style?
My artistic style, that’s a tough one! I try not to over think it, my pet portraits are almost exclusively commissioned so there has to be a more realistic and representational element to them than some other work I do but I try to keep them as loose and expressive as possible, my goal is not to re-create the photograph I work from but to give the recipient a fun and sometimes quirky representation of their pet. Definitely colour and texture play a big part.
To enter all you have to do is…

I’m actually hosting Christmas dinner for the first time, so I’m looking forward to playing hostess and having the family at our home – including all the four-legged members!
Taking my dogs to the beach in San Francisco while we are up there visiting family over the holidays. None of the beaches in LA allow dogs so we are going to be taking full advantage of all the great dog parks in SF.

My friend lost her husband quite unexpectedly the day before Thanksgiving. It sounds unbelievable, but her two elderly dogs passed away shortly after this. I used to spend Boxing Day at her house, where we ate well, played games and watched movies. This year, she is coming to my house for Christmas Day. I want the day to capture the love in Christmas, so I’m filling stockings, wrapping presents, and collecting games to play. We’ll have a prime rib and all the fixings. I’m looking forward to seeing her smile.
I’m looking forward to spending time with my sister!
I’m looking forward to hearing from my family that live far away after they have opened their carefully mailed gifts, and making a giant delicious turkey for two and afterwards cuddling with my pets on the couch in front of the tree.

I’m looking forward to just relaxing at home with my dog & family with some much needed time off work. Of course we have to watch Christmas movies and eat popcorn too!
I’m looking forward to both my puppies’ 1st Christmas!! And of course, spending time with family.
I am looking forward to our first Christmas morning as a family at our own house! We usually spend the night at my parents, but this year we are starting a new tradition!
This holiday season I’m looking forward to spending time with my mom, brothers and my doggie and finally being able to celebrate all of us being healthy and happy for the first time in years.
