PAWSH NO.7 “DOG-GONE JUBILEE” SNEAK PEEK

Pawsh-Magazine-spring-2013Every time a new Pawsh cover is finalized I can’t wait to share it with you. I’ve known for some time now that this image, photographed by my friend, Laura Jane Photography, would be the perfect visual to celebrate our anniversary edition “Dog-Gone Jubilee” and it has been no easy feat keeping it quiet until today.

The new edition will be available on March 16th (I’m sorry if I’ve been saying that a lot lately! I’m just too excited!) — the day that marks Pawsh’s third anniversary; although the magazine side has only been produced for two years. Whether you’ve been reading since day one or are brand new to our cozy corner of the Internet, thank you for everything.

Your wonderful support, your kind words, your honest feedback and your contagious enthusiasm for making our pets’ lives the best they can be is what fuels my determination to keep this site going and to introduce new features in our third year.

Much love to you all (and I mean that when I write it) and deep, deep thanks. xo

PAWSH SPOTLIGHT: SF PHOTOGRAPHY

simone-fauque-pet-photographer-3Hailing from Montreal, QC, Simone Fauque of SF Photography is a vibrant, up-and-coming pet photographer who I am proud to say I have had the pleasure of working with a lot through various issues of Pawsh. Her ability to capture free-spirited moments with bold colour palates and modern artistry makes her portfolio a gem that only becomes more and more polished as time passes. I chatted with Simone about her inspirational experiences, her unique business advice and her guilty fashion pleasure!

5 Ways to Reconnect With Your Dog

spend-time-with-dog-2 {Photography by Stephanie Heim} Life is BUSY at the moment! In addition to preparing the upcoming edition of Pawsh (March 16th everybody! Sneak peek coming soon!), I’ve been busy working, editing photos from three family sessions and a wedding, updating my photo blog more consistently, starting a 90-day fitness challenge, soaking up an online course and getting back into creative writing. Phew!

Life is — to say the least — exhilarating and (at times) a little exhausting right now, but no matter how many Post-its adorn my computer monitor or how many alerts I program into my phone, Rory remains my utmost priority. Her happiness, health and entertainment is always my foremost concern and achieving that tricky work-life balance can be a challenge.

So I thought I would once again share five of my own personal secrets for making extra time for Rory no matter how busy things get (I originally wrote about them here.) (more…)

AS DOGS WOULD SAY: DOG QUOTE 07

dog-quote-pawsh-magazine-09Have a wonderful weekend everybody! The next 48 hours are filled with final photoshoots, copy-editing and layouts for me, because the new edition comes out on March 16th (which is, incidentally, my birthday and Pawsh’s anniversary as well!) I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with the warm and fuzzy pages of a new Pawsh and am looking forward to immersing myself within the new pages to get ready!

This week’s quote is a reflection of being busy, busy. It’s about pushing personal boundaries and reaching beyond our comfort zones — something our dogs do all the time. No matter where they are walking, a dog will always try to reach for the smell that is just beyond their leash, reminding us to explore the world beyond what we know. We can always push ourselves a little bit further and should never stop trying to.

What are you up to this weekend? See you Monday!
