I’m off to explore The Ottawa Pet Expo this weekend and will be posting all sorts of fun updates via Twitter and Instagram in case you’d like to follow along! Until then, here are a few fun pet links from around the web!

1.  Pug love!

4. The first dog I’ve ever come across called Bubba.
5. A new dog-friendly hotel.

Have you found anything interesting around the web this week? Here’s to an amazing weekend everyone! I hope to catch you on Twitter over the next couple of days!

INU YOCHI DOG POD

Most dogs tend to dig, paw and snuffle at where they choose to sleep before actually settling down to snooze. It’s an instinct called ‘nesting’ and while it may be adorable to watch, sometimes you just don’t want pup clawing enthusiastically at your hand-knit afghan or 300-thread-count bed spread.

The solution? A bed designed specifically for digging like the INU YOCHI Dog Pod by Japanese designer Liron Tzanhan. The ruffled blanket is thick and durable — in other words, ideal for encouraging your pup’s natural instinct to mess things up before actually slipping into slumber.

PS: Four more stylish dog beds we love!

PAWSH PLANS: NOVEMBER 2012

November is always a bit drab once the Halloween sugar-high dissipates. Statistically speaking it is one of the most depressing months as well for pets and people (thank you very much cold Mother Nature for keeping us all cooped up inside). So to combat some of the negativity that tends to swirl around this month, let’s create occasions to celebrate and keep busy — you are all invited!

It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, you and your dog can follow along with our #Pawshplans this month. All you need to do is download the FREE CALENDAR and either stick it on the fridge or set it as your desktop background, as a friendly reminder that there are fun things waiting!

Rory and I will be posting photos of our mini-celebrations on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and would LOVE to see your photos too! Just be sure to use the hashtag #Pawshplans! It would be great to see your pets having fun with these activities!

Yesterday’s fun activity was to “Brush your pooch” — a great bonding activity that any bellyrub loving pup adores! Have a wiggler on your hands? Here is some expert grooming advice to help make the task easier and more enjoyable! Above you can see on Instagram how fluffy Rory’s ears get when she’s been brushed! The outcome of a good grooming session never fails to make me giggle!

What do your dogs look like after a brush? Remember to share your photos with the hash tag #Pawshplans if you tackle yesterday’s task!

REVIEW: BIONIC BALL

Do you sometimes find it challenging to keep your dog entertained? I know I do! Despite constantly brainstorming new games, activities and outings for my smart, energetic furball there are some days that leave me scratching my head wondering what to do.

Lately in my home Rory has been gleefully chasing the evenings away (quite literally!) by running around after her new Bionic Ball. This fun toy is made from innovative, FDA food-grade materials fondly dubbed ‘bionic rubber.’ Not only does it bounce and float, but it withstands even the most ferocious chewers and is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning!

What I like most about this the Bionic Ball is that it lives up to its marketing. To be perfectly honest, I was skeptical when told it could not be chewed through, as Rory usually shreds most rubber toys in exactly 3.2 seconds. But not this little ball! Although designed specially for small dogs so they can comfortable carry it in their mouths, this toy remains indestructible!

The ball in particular is very versatile! The open ends offer unpredictable bouncing (which Rory really cannot get enough of — she throws it around all by herself to watch it bounce!), it fits most Chuck-It throwers, it is water friendly and can be filled with treats! This ball has been a wonderful addition to my home and offers Rory a diverse source of play! She’s even gotten into the habit of sleeping with it at night!

This product gets a solid 4.5/5 tail wags! I only deduct a half wag because this unique rubber toy is quite a bit heavier than a lot of other rubber toys on the market, so it can be a little bit noisy when your dog decides to toss it all over the house.

PS: Another clever dog toy!
