Beautiful Bowls

We love food. So do our dogs, so fun ways to dress up dinner time is naturally something we’re always on the look out for.  Aren’t these ceramic breed bowls from Romy and Jacob just darling?  Not only are they pretty to look at, but they are also hand-finished and microwave/dishwasher safe. Plus we’re drooling over the lovely script font — oh-so pawsh!

Chances are you have already heard about the enormous kennel seizure taking place in Quebec right now. Paws “R” Us has been closed down by Humane Society International/Canada (HSI) with the assistance of other affiliate groups. Here are some more detailed articles about this event.

1.  Coverage by The Ottawa Citizen this morning.
2.  An article from The Windsor Star.
3.  The official news release from Humane Society International/Canada.
4.  A post from Montreal Dog Blog. (This team helped with the rescue effort and saw some of these dogs. Be prepared, this post presents a lot of graphic details.)

Smile! It’s the Weekend!

source

Hooray for the weekend! What’s on our agenda for the next couple of days? A special birthday celebration, the park, putting the polishing touches on our fall issue and snuggling up with a good book or two. In other words, the perfect pre-fall weekend!

So many things made us smile around the web this week. Here are a few of our faves!

1)  Daisy chain collars for puppies? Oh yes!

2)  A lovely little write up about Pawsh by our friends over at Miles to Style. Thanks Christine and Miles! xo

3)  This adorable letter from one foster dog to another.

4)  Some wonderful tweets from Bri Emery of Design LoveFest, who runs an incredible blog and is just all round inspiring. And guess what? She’s getting a couple of kittens this weekend!

5)  The complete photo-shoot of a dachshund puppy from which we sourced the above photo for today’s post. Seriously cannot get enough of it!

What are your plans for this beautiful September weekend? Hope whatever you do it is a wonderful few days! xo

Game Board by William Wegman

source

If anyone ever tells you that something is as simple as ‘black and white,’ kindly direct them to this beautiful photograph entitled Game Board by William Wegman. Although this is a colour photograph, it was styled in such a way that it looks like a black and white image. The two Weimaraners (Chip and Bobbin) were instructed to stand side by side against their respective backgrounds while the gorgeous symmetry was captured. If you have ever tried to photograph two dogs in a specific pose at the same time against a specific background you know first hand that it isn’t an easy task, proving that nothing is ever simply ‘black and white.’ Don’t you just love how that sentiment is expressed by this beautifully simplistic, yet deceivingly complex piece of art?
